Fractal Guides
Overview – What are Fractals?
Similar to ‘dungeons’, Fractals are 5 person content separate to your main storyline, living world, Tyrian exploration and Heart of Thorns. They are similar to dungeons in that you will need to find a group and work your way through various checkpoints and mechanics to succeed.
The primary difference is the constant degenerative damage mechanic “Agony”.
There are 4 tiers of fractals, with increasing levels of mob difficulty, damage mechanics (Instabilities), and (of course) AGONY damage. You will need to add ‘Agony Infusions’ to armor, weapons and/or trinkets to survive higher level fractals.
Fractals are rewarding gameplay with some fascinating stories and mechanics, and great financial return.
Your closest waypoint to enter the Fractal lobby is Fort Marriner Waypoint in Lion’s Arch.

TIERS
There are 4 tiers of fractals, with increasing levels of mob difficulty, damage mechanics, and AGONY damage. You will need to add ‘Agony Infusions’ to armor, weapons and/or trinkets to survive higher level fractals. Agony Resistance, often referred to as ‘AR’, can only be added to Ascended armor, weapons & trinkets. The current maximum AR required is 150.
Some items (like rings) can be altered in the Mystic Forge to carry more than one Infusion Slot. Below is an example of an ascended ring with 3 +9AR infusions, providing the player +27 AR. So, two ascended rings alone will provide +54 AR.
Adding Infusion slots to gear (ascended rings / backpacks)
